A day trip to Windsor.
Windsor castle is home to 300 fireplaces, makes sense with the size of it.
I can't imagine how frosty those UK winter nights would be in a c a s t l e, but, Windsor is more than just the castle. I took myself on a day out to go and see what else I could find.
How to get there
Windsor is only 25 miles from London and takes around an hour to get there, perfect for a day trip!
Car: 45 minutes on the M4
Bus: You can get a national express from Windsor back to Victoria station (I'm sure that you can get it there but I cannot find it online haha, so I don't want to give potentially false info).
Train: Elizabeth line (Maidenhead) to Slough then change to Great Western Rail which takes you straight to Windsor central, opposite the castle (this would definitely be my suggestion).
Windsor Castle
Let's just get this one out of the way first haha.
Of course it's so beautiful and is the main reason that people go to Windsor, you will need to prebook your tickets to get in. On the day there are only viator and other third party options which are much more expensive.
Price: £30

St Georges Chapel
Want to worship where the Queen worshipped?
The chapel, included in your Windsor ticket allows that to happen! It's a stunning example of gothic architecture, as is most every other church in Europe.
Theatre royal
An Edwardian theatre that opened in 1910 - you can do a tour of the theatre on Thursdays and Saturdays which provides a different views as well as the history of the venue. It's cheap and takes one hour :).

The State apartments
Home to 39 British monarchs - Queen Lizzy used to stay for a month in April as it was her preference over Buckingham.
The long walk
As simple as it sounds, this was my personal favourite. The path is 2.6 miles long and one end boasts views of the castle whilst the other has a statue of 'The Copper horse'. Take it slow, take snacks and enjoy the tree lined views.
Treat yourself
Treat yourself to jam and scones or a delicious cocktail at the leaf, it's right by the station and is best described as an outdoor plant oasis. 10/10
